It’s time to step up

April 22, 2021

In front of world leaders representing 80% of global carbon emissions, President Biden today declared the intent of the United States to reduce carbon emissions 50% by 2030.

“It’s time to step up” to address climate change, said the President, noting that “scientists tell us that this is the decisive decade, this is the decade we must make decisions that will avoid the worst consequences of a climate crisis.”

Washington state can do its part by passing SB 5126, the Climate Commitment Act.  Yesterday, the House put the bill on the house floor calendar for a potential vote today. The bill has progressed further than any comprehensive economy-wide climate bill in Washington state history.  There are less than four days left for the Legislature to act.

On this Earth day, it’s time to step up.  It’s time to act on the climate crisis.  It’s time to pass the Climate Commitment Act.

The clock is ticking.
