Congratulations to our founder
This week The Madrona Institute presented our founder, David Giuliani, with the first annual Madrona Leadership Award.
The Madrona Institute is a non-profit based in Washington’s San Juan Islands, with a mission “to engage current and future generations in the conservation and stewardship of our local ecosystem, and to encourage community dialogue and leadership on climate-related issues”.
In a Zoom presentation, Madrona’s president Ron Zee thanked David for his “exemplary service to climate action”.
The award includes a living testimonial with the planting of a tree in David’s honor, in a climate grove, sequestering carbon for decades to come.
In accepting the award, David remarked, “If everyone is able to take just one step forward every day, that’s a huge amount of progress”.
At Clean & Prosperous Washington, all of us are grateful for David’s leadership, and we’re inspired to keep working for progress every day.
Our next step forward is the publication of our new report, Washington’s Decisive Decade: An Emerging Roadmap for Transportation Decarbonization and Cleaner Air.
Join us Wednesday, February 9, 12-1 p.m. PT for a Zoom webinar to hear about this report and the seven transportation decarbonization strategies it covers. This report offers a data-driven approach and a modeling framework that can be replicated across a broader solution set as Washington considers where we can best invest Climate Commitment Act funds to both reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality; which projects will provide the strongest return on investment; and what metrics we can use to objectively prioritize opportunities.
