Visit the County Fare
Blue-ribbon, green economy projects are being showcased in every county of the state, all made possible by Washington’s Cap-and-Invest Climate Commitment Act (CCA). Yet there is a very real risk of losing the progress those investments are bringing to all 39 counties in our state. What projects and programs are on the “menu”? Explore this “Risk of Repeal” map from the Clean & Prosperous Institute:
Carbon market auction proceeds are funding nearly 1,700 projects across the state. Though this newsletter is too short to scroll through a description of each and every one of those projects, here are one-pagers Clean and Prosperous Institute produced that summarize the “fare” that’s at risk of being defunded or deferred in each county if the Cap-and-Invest CCA is repealed:
Clallam County
Clark County
Klickitat County

With these CCA-funded investments, families and businesses in Washington state will fare better, from Adams County to Yakima County. And thanks to the CCA, polluters pay, in a market-based carbon allowance auction. We think that’s fair.
